ACT Wazalendo has launched a public fundraising initiative to finance its campaigns for the upcoming Local Government Elections, scheduled for November 27, 2024.

The party’s Secretary-General, Ado Shaibu, announced the initiative as part of ACT Wazalendo’s ongoing commitment to democratic engagement by actively involving its supporters and the public in significant party operations.

Shaibu explained that involving supporters in financing party activities reflects the party’s consistent dedication to transparency and inclusivity in all its major programs, including election campaigns, national tours, and party congresses. “We have always involved our supporters and citizens in every election and major party program, from national conferences to regional outreach activities,” Shaibu stated, emphasizing the importance of grassroots support for a sustainable and accountable democratic system.

He added that contributions made to ACT Wazalendo will be handled with the highest level of transparency. “As is our tradition, all funds will be managed transparently, with full public reports on their use after the elections. As you know, ACT Wazalendo operates openly and is one of the most accountable parties regarding financial management,” he said, referencing positive assessments from Tanzania’s Controller and Auditor General (CAG) and regular audits by the Registrar of Political Parties.

The public fundraising drive is part of the party’s effort to build an inclusive and participatory approach to campaign financing, aimed at deepening its connection with the people while upholding its standards of financial integrity. Shaibu urged supporters to contribute, highlighting that all citizens have a role in shaping the democratic future of Tanzania.

The campaign, which emphasizes fiscal transparency and public involvement, seeks to inspire other political parties to adopt similar open financial practices. Through this fundraising initiative, ACT Wazalendo underscores its commitment to being a clean and well-regulated party, actively promoting accountable governance across the political landscape.

In addition to raising funds, the initiative aims to foster a sense of ownership among Tanzanians, as supporters from various regions are encouraged to join in supporting ACT Wazalendo’s mission of strengthening democracy. Shaibu’s statements affirmed that this model of public engagement exemplifies the party’s unique approach to inclusive political participation, further positioning ACT Wazalendo as a model of transparency and integrity in Tanzanian politics.
