Speaker of Parliament Dr. Tulia Ackson has directed the Member of Parliament for Ilemela, Dr. Angelina Mabula, to present evidence in Parliament tomorrow regarding allegations that Sangabuye Health Center in Ilemela Municipality, Mwanza Region, accommodates men, women, and children in a single ward.
The directive was issued yesterday following the Question and Answer session in Parliament. Speaker Dr. Tulia clarified that the issue had been raised during the government’s response to queries the previous day, prompting her to request that MP Mabula provide evidence in line with parliamentary procedures.
“I had previously asked the MP to submit evidence concerning the Sangabuye Health Center in Ilemela Municipality. However, I had not specified a date for submission. Now, I am setting the date for August 30, 2024,” Dr. Tulia stated.

This issue came to light in Parliament when MP Mabula, in a supplementary question, highlighted that the health center had been upgraded from a dispensary to a health center in 1999. However, it still only has one ward that is shared by men, women, and children.
In addition to raising concerns about the inadequate facilities, MP Mabula questioned when the government would complete the construction of additional buildings and erect a perimeter fence at the center.
