Egyptian Minister for Housing , Energy and Development, Assim Elgazzer, has applauded Tanzania the country’s commitments on the Julius Nyerere Power Generation project (JNHPP) which is about 96%.
The minister gave these congratulations immediately after visiting the project in Rufiji in the Coastal region of Tanzania. Assim, was surprised by how far the project has reached.
According to him ,the Government has made great strides in the implementation of the electricity generation project, which he believes will overcome the challenge of access to electricity in the country.
“The progress of the implementation of this project is good and in the near future we expect to see this when this project is completed,access to electricity challenges will be curtailed. “said Elgazzar.
The Deputy Minister for Energy ,Judith Salvio Kapinga, who accompanied her Egyptian counterpart to the site ,explained that the Power generation project which is built by JV Elsewedy and Arab Contractor is 95.85% complete .
Assim Elgazzar who visited the project on behalf of the Egyptian President , assured that his government will continue to provide great cooperation to the contractors throughout the process, ensuring that the project , is efficiently completed on time .
Efforts by Government to implement the complete has received compliments from many countries since the project begin.
In December, 2022 , Egyptian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Sameh Shoukry, who attended the impounding and first fill ceremony of the JNHPP dam project, commended the country for the initiative, describing it as one of the ambitious development projects in the continent which will effectively contribute to the country’s development as well as improve the livelihood of Tanzanians.
“This is a milestone towards finalisation of the project and the generation of electricity with a total investment of 2.9 billion US dollars and a generation capacity of around 2,000 megawatts.
Bilateral relations between the two countries are witnessing immense progress in a few years contributed by the shared visions of Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and his counterpart President Samia Suluhu Hassan.
