President Samia Suluhu Hassan has significantly improved access to specialized medical services at the National Hospital Muhimbili, with over 35 specialist services now available at the Mloganzila and Upanga facilities.
This enhancement has notably reduced the need for patients to seek referrals abroad.
Health Minister Jenista Mhagama made this announcement today during a three-day visit to Dar es Salaam, which began with a tour of the National Hospital Muhimbili’s Mloganzila and Upanga branches. She was accompanied by Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Ismail Rumatila, and Director of Medical Services, Dr. Hamad Nyembea.
Minister Mhagama highlighted that the expansion of specialized medical services is a key part of the government’s strategy to improve healthcare delivery and reduce the financial burden on Tanzanians who previously had to travel abroad for advanced treatments. The initiative is expected to enhance the quality of healthcare and make high-level medical services more accessible to the population.
