The Tanzanian Police have issued a summons for John Mnyika, the Secretary-General of the Democratic Change Party, in connection with the murder of party member Ali Kibao.
Kibao was abducted by unidentified individuals on September 6, 2024, while traveling from Dar es Salaam to Tanga on a Tashriff bus. His body was discovered on September 8 in Ununio.
Reports indicate that Kibao was seized by two unidentified vehicles which intercepted the Tashriff bus at Tegeta, Dar es Salaam. The incident was first reported on social media on September 6 at around 12:00 PM, prompting immediate concern.
On the day of the abduction, Police Spokesperson David Misime confirmed that the authorities were investigating the matter.

The investigation took a significant turn when a letter from Davis Msangi, Kinondoni Regional Crime Officer, was released on September 16, 2024. The letter, titled “Police Summons,” outlines charges related to Kibao’s murder and specifies the legal grounds for the summons.
The summons is issued under Section 10(2) of the Criminal Procedure Act, Cap 20 R.E 2022, and Section 32 of the Police Force and Auxiliary Police Act, Cap 322. The police are intensifying their efforts to uncover the details surrounding Kibao’s death and bring those responsible to justice.
