The President of the Tanzania Episcopal Conference (TEC), Bishop Wolfgang Pisa, has called on Catholic believers and all Tanzanians to cultivate a culture of tolerance and patience in all matters, as doing so is a sign of true service to God.

Speaking at the conclusion of the fifth National Eucharistic Congress, which is ongoing today (Sunday, September 15, 2024) at Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Bishop Pisa condemned acts of discrimination for any reason.

He emphasized that since we all believe in God, we should not discriminate against one another. Differences in faith, denomination, politics, tribe, region, wealth, or lack thereof, do not change the fact that we are all God’s children.

Bishop Wolfgang Pisa, who is also the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Lindi, made his statement at a time when the country is witnessing a broad debate surrounding incidents of abduction, murder, rape, and sexual assault. These acts have, in some cases, been linked to political differences, superstitious beliefs, and revenge, further highlighting the relevance of his message.
