The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has officially signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance the start-up ecosystem in Eastern Africa.
The new initiative is designed to support the growth and development of information technology (IT) start-ups in the region.
The project, which will kick off in early 2025, is slated to run for three years. It follows a formal request from the Eastern African government made in mid-2023. The MoU aims to foster a supportive network comprising individuals, investors, public institutions, and companies to help new IT ventures thrive.
JICA’s initiative will focus on creating both physical and online spaces that facilitate collaboration and resource sharing. By strengthening connections between stakeholders and providing access to critical resources, the project seeks to stimulate innovation and drive economic growth within the IT sector.
