Renowned Bongo Flava artist Rayvanny has officially requested to be removed from the nominations for the Tanzania Music Awards (TMA).
The artist made his request public through an Instagram post, where he expressed deep gratitude for the government’s ongoing efforts to promote the arts. He particularly praised the Ministry of Culture, Arts, and Sports, as well as the National Arts Council (Basata), for their contributions to the industry.
Despite his appreciation for these institutions, Rayvanny cited dissatisfaction with what he termed as “the deceit of a few individuals” involved in the award process. This prompted him to request his exclusion from the awards, stating that his fellow artists could represent him.

This announcement follows Rayvanny’s recent triumph at the East Africa Arts Entertainment Awards (EAEA), where he secured five major awards, including Best Male Artist – East Africa and Best Album/EP – East Africa. His success at the EAEA has further solidified his position as one of the leading artists in the region.
Rayvanny’s decision has ignited discussions within the music industry about the transparency and fairness of award nominations. Many view his withdrawal as a bold stance in favor of integrity within the sector.
