The Regional Commissioner of Dar es Salaam, Hon. Albert Chalamila, has received the medical ship named Peace Ark from the People’s Liberation Army of China at the Port of Dar es Salaam.
Speaking at the reception, RC Chalamila announced that the ship will be in our region to provide medical services to residents of Dar es Salaam and Tanzanians in general from July 16, 2024, to July 23, 2024. Today, July 16, 2024, marks the special launch day, with official medical services commencing from July 18 to July 23, 2024. These medical services are part of the celebrations of sixty (60) years of cooperation between Tanzania and China and the sixtieth (60th) anniversary of the establishment of the Tanzania People’s Defence Force (TPDF) on September 01, 1964.
RC Chalamila further explained that the medical services to be provided include diagnostics, general treatments, and surgeries, women’s health, orthopedics, urology, ophthalmology, ENT (ear, nose, and throat), dentistry, cardiology, gastroenterology, and burn treatments. These services will be provided in collaboration with health experts from TPDF, Muhimbili National Hospital, Tumbi, Amana, Mwananyamala, Temeke, and the Chinese Army.
Additionally, there will be a group of specialist doctors who will provide medical services at Muhimbili National Hospital, Lugalo Hospital, Kunduchi, Amana Hospital, Bunju, Mwananyamala, and Temeke, along with other areas for which an official schedule will be provided by TPDF.
RC Chalamila also informed citizens who wish to visit the ship for medical services to use gate number two (2) at the Dar es Salaam Port.
RC Chalamila announced that these medical services will be provided free of charge. Therefore, he urged all citizens in need of these services to turn out in large numbers and take advantage of this medical opportunity.11:43
