The First Vice President of Zanzibar, Hon. Othman Masoud Othman, has advised the Vice President’s Office to collaborate with his office in addressing the impacts of climate change in Zanzibar.
He made this remark during a meeting with the Minister of State in the Vice President’s Office (Union and Environment), Hon. Dr. Ashatu Kijaji, who visited to introduce herself following her recent appointment.
Hon. Othman highlighted the significant impact of saltwater intrusion on Pemba’s residential and agricultural areas, urging NEMC and ZEMA to develop strategies to tackle these challenges.
Dr. Kijaji committed to spending workdays each month in her Zanzibar office to enhance collaboration.

In discussions with the Minister of State in the Second Vice President’s Office, Hamza Hassan Juma, they agreed to strengthen cooperation. Dr. Kijaji assured support to serve Tanzanians effectively, and Minister Juma pledged to implement directives from both Union leaders, emphasizing the fraternal nature and mutual benefits of the Union.
Additionally, Minister Dr. Kijaji has pledged cooperation with the Office of the Second Vice President to ensure both governments serve all Tanzanians effectively.
Minister Hamza Hassan Juma has promised to implement directives from leaders on both sides of the Union to serve the citizens and advance Tanzania.
Thus, Minister Juma assured Minister Dr. Kijaji of collaboration and welcomed her to exchange experiences to strengthen the Union.
Minister Dr. Kijaji recently introduced herself to leaders of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar (SMZ) after her appointment.
They stated that the Union of the two countries is fraternal and has economic, social, and political benefits for both sides.
