Kenyan police have arrested a man in Nairobi’s Huruma district after discovering dismembered human remains in his backpack.

The shocking incident unfolded during a routine patrol in the early hours of January 22, 2025, leaving the local community reeling in disbelief.

The suspect, identified as 29-year-old John Kiama Wambua, was stopped by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), who became suspicious of his behavior. Upon searching his backpack, they found human body parts, which Wambua later admitted belonged to his 19-year-old wife, Joy Fridah Munani.

After being questioned, Wambua led the officers to his home, where further gruesome evidence was uncovered. Inside the house, police discovered a knife, blood-soaked clothing, and additional body parts hidden under the bed. The scene painted a chilling picture of the events that had transpired.

Authorities have launched an intensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of Munani. The DCI has confirmed that Wambua will face formal murder charges in court as the case proceeds.
