At the commemoration of the celebration of International Workers’ Day, held in Arusha Tanzania, Vice President, Dr. Philip Mpango, delivered a message of hope for all working Tanzanians,assuring them of government plans to increase salaries soon.
The Vice President who delivered the speech on behalf of President Samia, assured the workers that President Samia is aware of their concerns and instructed him to communicate her commitment to addressing the issue soon.
The theme for this year’s International Workers’ Day, “Salary Increase is the Foundation for Better Benefits and Protection against Tough Living Conditions,” highlights the significance of salary increments in improving workers’ lives and safeguarding them from economic hardships. Workers believe that higher salaries will enable them to access improved benefits and better cope with the rising cost of living.
Tumaini Nyamhokya, the President of the Tanzania Confederation of Trade Unions (TUCTA), spoke on behalf of the workers, expressing their anticipation for a statement from President Samia regarding salary hikes.
Nyamhokya emphasized the role of trade unions as advocates for workers’ interests and reminded the government and employers of the importance of addressing these issues. He stated that better salaries would result in improved benefits for workers during their employment and retirement.

The workers have received this message with hope and are eagerly awaiting President Samia’s announcement on salary increments.
