The joint committee meeting between the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania and the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar focused on resolving the final 4 out of 25 Union issues.
Held in Zanzibar and overseen by Vice President Dr. Philip Mpango, the meeting addressed topics such as sugar, vehicle registration, the joint board, and revenue allocation from the former East African Community common currency.
Vice President Mpango commended the leaders and experts for their dedication during the preparations and discussions, emphasizing the meeting’s significance for the nation’s future and the Union. He stressed the importance of achieving the goal of safeguarding and upholding the Union.
Key figures present at the joint committee meeting included Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa, Second Vice President of Zanzibar Hemed Suleiman Abdulla, Deputy Prime Minister Dotto Biteko, and Chief Secretary of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar Engineer Zena Said.
