Dr. Ndugulile, who was serving as the Member of Parliament for Kigamboni, had recently been elected as the Regional Director for Africa of the World Health Organization (WHO), a position he was slated to assume in February 2025. Dr. Ndugulile’s career reflected his commitment to public service. He served as Tanzania’s Deputy Minister of Health from 2017 to 2020 and later as Minister for Communication and Information Technology. At the WHO, he planned to focus on ensuring accessible healthcare, addressing emerging health crises, and fostering regional collaboration.

The late Dr. Ndugulile’s body is expected to arrive in Tanzania on November 29, 2024, aboard an Ethiopian Airlines flight. President Samia Suluhu Hassan will lead the nation in mourning during a public memorial service at Karimjee Grounds, underscoring his importance as a national and international leader. Citizens and officials are expected to gather in large numbers to pay their last respects.
