The Ministry of Community Welfare has expressed strong condemnation following the circulation of a distressing video on social media. The video, allegedly showing a young girl from the Yombo Dovya area in Dar es Salaam, being subjected to degrading and unlawful acts, has sparked outrage.
The Ministry denounces this act of humiliation and categorically states that such actions constitute sexual violence. These acts are a gross violation of our national morals, personality, and customs.
Furthermore, the Ministry condemns all forms of violence and sexual harassment perpetuated through social networks. These actions not only harm the individuals involved but also undermine the ethical fabric of our society.

Dr. Nandera E. Mhando, Commissioner for Community Welfare, urges all citizens to remain vigilant and not turn a blind eye to such heinous acts. “I appeal to all citizens to report such incidents to the Police Force so that legal action can be taken. The Ministry emphasizes the importance of adhering to the Laws, Traditions, Taboos, Customs, and Ethics of Tanzanians when handling relationship issues, rather than taking the law into their own hands,” Dr. Mhando stated.
The Ministry remains committed to fostering a society free from sexual violence. It is crucial that every member of the community plays a role in safeguarding the dignity and safety of all individuals, particularly the vulnerable.
Tanzania without sexual violence is possible!
