A routine bus journey from Mwanza to Dar es Salaam took a tragic turn when a male passenger, Godfrey David Mbaga, fell ill mid-journey and later passed away. Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident, a 10-year-old girl was found dead in a pond in Morogoro, leaving the local community in shock.
According to police reports, Mbaga, believed to be between 25 and 30 years old and a resident of Mwanza, was traveling on a bus with registration number T.433 EBG, driven by Emanuel Kayanda. As the bus approached Mikese in Morogoro, he started feeling unwell. Concerned passengers and the driver acted quickly to get him medical help, but despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at a hospital.
His body has been taken to the Morogoro Regional Referral Hospital mortuary, where authorities are urging family members or friends to come forward for identification and burial arrangements.
In a separate heartbreaking case, the lifeless body of 10-year-old Ester Banzi, a fifth-grade student at Juhudi Primary School, was discovered floating in a pond in the Cape Town area of Lukobe ward, Morogoro Municipality, on the morning of February 24, 2025.
Ester had been reported missing a day earlier at Kihonda Police Station, prompting search efforts. Sadly, those efforts ended in tragedy when her body was found in the water.

Speaking on the matter, Regional Police Commander Alex Mkama reassured the public that authorities are thoroughly investigating the circumstances surrounding the child’s death. “We urge parents and guardians to remain calm as we continue our investigations to establish what happened,” he said.
Ester’s body has also been preserved at the Morogoro Regional Referral Hospital mortuary while further examinations take place.
These two tragic incidents have left the Morogoro community in mourning, with residents expressing grief and concern. Police continue to call on the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities that may help prevent similar unfortunate events in the future.
