The Kilwa Ruins World Heritage Park on the islands of Songo Mnara in Tanzania is experiencing a significant rise in foreign tourists from diverse countries.
Managed by the Tanzania Wildlife Management Authority (TAWA), the park welcomed its 5th group of 119 tourists from countries including England, France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Spain, and Canada on February 15, 2024, for an enriching tourism experience.
These tourists arrived via the ship Le Bougainville, organized by Akorn Destination Management (A&K), highlighting the international appeal of the historical and cultural tourism offerings at the park.
This surge in tourism can be attributed to the proactive measures taken by the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania under the leadership of Hon. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan. The government’s efforts to boost the tourism sector were further propelled by the success of the film “Tanzania: The Royal Tour.”
Additionally, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, in collaboration with TAWA, has focused on enhancing the tourism infrastructure at the park. This includes the development of piers, accommodation facilities, visitor rest areas, and improved visitor access to attractions. The quality of service provided by TAWA staff at the park has also played a significant role in enhancing the overall tourist experience.
