The Fujian Hexingwang Industry Company Tanzania.co.Ltd, in collaboration with the Njombe regional government, has begun constructing a large-scale factory for the production and manufacturing of steel, innovative tourist vehicles, steel powder, lime cement, and other products in the Ikelu area, within the Makambako Town Council, Njombe District. This factory is expected to be one of the largest in East Africa.
In front of hundreds of citizens and the Chinese Ambassador to Tanzania, Chen Mingjian, who came to inspect the factory’s construction site, the company’s CEO, Lx Xsinda, stated that they were able to start construction thanks to the strong encouragement from Njombe Regional Commissioner Anthony Mtaka, along with the Tanzanian government’s efforts to create a favorable environment for investment and business for investors.

Njombe Regional Commissioner Anthony Mtaka mentioned that his plan is to ensure that Makambako becomes an industrial hub, assuring the public that this factory is being built as promised. He compared it to similar projects he oversaw in other regions, such as the chalk factory in Simiyu and the FOMI fertilizer factory in Dodoma, during his previous leadership roles.
“When the President visited Njombe, I promised him that we would transform this region because he entrusted me and my team. So, when opportunities arise, we have the responsibility to seize them and turn them into action,” said Mtaka.
The Chinese Ambassador to Tanzania, Chen Mingjian, praised the ongoing efforts to invest in the factory, calling it a major and modern investment that will create ample employment opportunities for Tanzanians. The factory will produce high-demand products for Tanzania and other countries, while also contributing to foreign exchange earnings.
