The government of Tanzania has set a three-month deadline for finalizing the much-anticipated “Made in Tanzania” logo, a project aimed at boosting the country’s brand identity on the global stage.
On February 12, Minister for Industry and Trade, Dr. Selemani Jafo, announced that the logo’s final design will be launched during the Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF) on July 7 this year.
The project began in November 2024 when the Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade) launched a competition for logo submissions. After receiving 88 designs, a panel of judges narrowed the entries down to three that met the required standards. Dr. Jafo emphasized the importance of the logo in strengthening Tanzania’s recognition in international markets.
He urged TanTrade to assemble a team of experts to finalize the design, stating, “I want this logo ready before the DITF. It’s crucial that we have it finalized and launched on July 7.”
The logo will serve as a distinctive mark for Tanzanian products, helping consumers worldwide easily identify goods made in the country. According to Dr. Jafo, this initiative is not just about branding; it’s about showcasing Tanzania as a credible player in global trade.
“Tanzania has access to lucrative markets like the U.S. through the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA),” Dr. Jafo said. “With this logo, we will make it easier for consumers to trust and identify Tanzanian products.”

Latifa Khamis, the Director General of TanTrade, explained that the selection process for the logo had been competitive, with 88 submissions from Tanzanians across the country. The three chosen designs now await refinement by a team of experts, who will work to perfect the final version.
“This logo will represent more than just our products,” said Khamis. “It’s a reflection of Tanzanian creativity and craftsmanship. It will help businesses gain recognition and credibility, both locally and internationally.”
As the clock ticks toward the July 7 launch, the logo will become a crucial symbol for Tanzanian businesses looking to make their mark globally. Whether you’re a consumer in New York or Nairobi, the “Made in Tanzania” logo will soon be synonymous with quality and pride.
