The Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, January Makamba, engaged in discussions with the Ambassador of Switzerland to Tanzania, H.E. Didier Chassot , at the Ministry’s office in Dar Es Salaam.
Their dialogue focused on enhancing cooperation in the defense and security sector for mutual benefit and the international community. The two,also explored ways to develop a shared understanding of global conflicts’ impacts and provide constructive suggestions for resolving these issues to minimize harm to society.

Makamba and Chassot, reviewed various programs aimed at strengthening cooperation, including regular visits by leaders in the defense and security sector and participation in conflict resolution meetings.
January Makamba ,highlighted the importance of prioritizing conflict resolution discussions concerning Africa, particularly countries like the DRC that have long-standing conflicts but have not received adequate attention in international peace dialogues.
Ambassador Chassot,used the moment, to commend Tanzania for its proactive role in conflict resolution and peacebuilding efforts globally, acknowledging Tanzania as a significant partner in the region.
Ambassador Chassot , further extended sympathies to Tanzanians affected by the devastating impact of heavy rains, leading to flooding that caused 155 dead ,236 injured and displaced over 300 people.

The two, have signed a series of agreements to bolster bilateral relations in technical and scientific cooperation , civil aviation, and mutual legal assistance in criminal matters .
