Health authorities raise about potential outbreaks of diseases like pneumonia and other cold-related illnesses as dry season approaches

As the dry season approaches from June to August 2024, health authorities are raising concerns about the potential for disease outbreaks like pneumonia and other cold-related illnesses.

The Tanzania Meteorological Authority (TMA) issued warnings highlighting the health risks anticipated during this period.

In addition to worries about the beginning of mild cold weather and eye diseases triggered by dust, TMA stresses the importance of taking preventive measures, urging communities to protect themselves from the health effects of the upcoming dry conditions.

“We advise taking health precautions to protect the community against diseases that may be caused by cold and dust,” the statement said.

The prolonged dry period can contribute to the spread of various illnesses, and officials are urging the public to take precautions.
