As the government persists in creating opportunities for women and girls, the Russian Alabuga Start Programme has provided an opportunity for young women aged 18 to 22 to acquire work experience through employment in Russia.
According to Project Leader for HR at Alabuga Start, Mr Elmir Saifullin, the relocation programme to Russia for work experience will benefit Tanzanian girls who participate.
“This programme is special for girls worldwide who need to gain work experience in Russia and become professionals in various fields,” Mr. Saifullin explained.
In 2023, around 1,100 Tanzanian girls sought to join the program, but only four were selected out of the 327 participants. Mr. Saifullin stressed that the program targets motivated girls keen on learning and skill development, highlighting that educational background is not a hindrance; rather, the participant’s willingness is key.
“We provide them with work experience, professional training, and teach them the Russian language in four fields: logistics, service and hospitality, catering, and production operation,” Mr. Saifullin added.
Senior HR specialist Konstantin Trifonov who also took his turn to give details about the programme mentioned that the programme covers all transportation costs, accommodations , and a monthly allowance of 650 US dollars (approximately 1.6m/-).

Mr. Trifonov explained that the program follows a structured cycle, with participants being supervised at each stage for six months to evaluate their commitment and readiness to develop professionally and gain experience.
He stressed the importance of learning the Russian language for effective work in the region, requiring applicants to know at least 100 words of Russian when applying.
Girls aged 18 to 22 are specifically chosen as they are typically more dynamic and open to acquiring new skills.
This initiative aims to empower women, aligning with efforts in many countries. The program’s website offers detailed information on the desired qualities, encouraging eligible girls within the age range to seize the opportunity to gain experience in Russia.
Upon completion of the program lasting two to four years, participants can opt for permanent employment at the residence, pursue higher education, or return to Tanzania to work for Russian-owned companies locally and elsewhere.
