The ruling CCM party in Tanga Region has initiated a significant program aimed at enhancing the skills and safety of local commuter bus drivers. In a proactive move to address the evolving challenges in the transportation industry, CCM has allocated TZS 30 million to fund a one-month comprehensive driving course for 600 commuter bus drivers. This course will be held at a college registered with the Vocational Education and Training Authority (VETA).
Rajab Abdulrahman, CCM Chairman for the Tanga region, highlighted the necessity for drivers to continuously update their knowledge and skills to cope with the rapid changes and technological advancements in the transportation sector. “With the transportation industry undergoing continuous changes and innovations, it is crucial for drivers to return to driving schools regularly. This not only ensures they are well-versed with the latest road safety regulations but also keeps them informed about new trends, technologies, and standards in the field,” Abdulrahman stated.
The driving course will focus on various critical aspects of modern driving. These include advanced driving techniques, understanding new vehicle technologies, and improving overall road safety practices. By the end of the course, the drivers are expected to gain enhanced confidence and competence in operating their vehicles, ultimately contributing to safer roads in the region.
