A quiet morning at Coco Beach took a tragic turn when the lifeless body of an unidentified man was discovered lying on the sand near the shoreline in Oysterbay, Kinondoni.

According to police reports, the man appeared to be in his early 30s, possibly between 30 and 35 years old. He was found around 5:00 a.m. by four small-scale traders who operate in the area. They say they noticed the man lying motionless on the beach and quickly alerted authorities. The man was unconscious and had a plastic medical cast — commonly known as a “POP” — on his right arm, suggesting he may have been recovering from a recent injury.

Emergency responders rushed him to Mwananyamala Hospital, but by the time he arrived, doctors confirmed that he had already passed away. His identity remains unknown, and none of the witnesses or locals recognized him.

Police from the Dar es Salaam Special Zone say an investigation is now underway to determine both the identity of the man and the cause of his death.

While there were no visible signs of violence on the body at the time he was discovered, investigators are treating the incident seriously and haven’t ruled out any possibilities, including foul play.

Residents and early-morning beachgoers have expressed shock over the incident. Coco Beach is a popular destination for leisure, exercise, and small businesses, and such events have raised concerns over safety, especially during the early hours when security presence may be minimal.

Authorities have urged the public to assist in the investigation. Anyone who may have seen the man in the hours leading up to the discovery — or who might recognize him — is being encouraged to contact the nearest police station or local officials.
