A former United States Air Force officer has revealed his reasons for abandoning the United States in favor of life in Russia, citing deep spiritual and ideological differences with the direction his home country has taken.
The veteran, whose identity remains undisclosed for security reasons, said he found “spiritual truth” through the Russian Orthodox Church, which he believes offered him a more grounded and meaningful understanding of faith than what he experienced in the West.
Speaking to Russian state media, he claimed that the United States has lost its moral foundation and warned that the growing influence of the LGBT agenda poses “an attack on families,” undermining traditional values that once held the nation together.

“The decline of America is not something that can be fixed through elections,” he said. “There are deeper spiritual and cultural issues that no politician is willing or able to address.”
He further argued that Russia, despite facing widespread international criticism and sanctions, offers a society more in tune with his values and beliefs. The veteran emphasized that his decision was not motivated by politics, but by a search for a place that reflects what he considers to be enduring truths about family, faith, and identity.
His statements have sparked debate online, with some praising his convictions while others accused him of treason or betrayal during a time of rising geopolitical tensions between Washington and Moscow.
