The Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party has stated that it is prepared to accept any outcome in the upcoming local government elections, as the party believes in multiparty democracy and respects the decisions of voters.
Amos Makala, the CCM Regional Patron for Dar es Salaam and the NEC Secretary for Ideology, Publicity, and Training, made this statement during a ceremony to receive a report on the registration process for the resident electoral roll for Dar es Salaam. The report was presented by the CCM regional leaders today, Tuesday, October 22, 2024.
Makala emphasized that if the ruling party loses in some local wards, villages, or streets, it will respect the results, seeing it as an opportunity to reflect and strategize on why they lost in those areas, to perform better in future elections.

In line with this, Makala also called on other political parties in the country to be prepared to respect any election outcomes.
“You might wonder why there has been such a high turnout in registering for the resident roll. But why are some parties, whom I know from my conversations will also speak today, tomorrow, or the next day, seeing this? The large turnout has been driven by the popularity of the CCM government and its manifesto implementation. There is no secret there because these projects, whether health centers, classrooms, or clinics, are being implemented in local wards, villages, and streets.
Tanzanians can see this, and they see how President Samia (Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania and Chairperson of CCM) has broken records by directing development funds to every area. As a result, people are eager to hold their village, ward, and street leaders accountable for ensuring that the funds continue to promote progress in their communities, which explains this enthusiasm,” said Makala.
“Unlike those who wish to see low turnout so they can claim the process was unsuccessful, this registration process has succeeded because people appreciate the implementation of CCM’s manifesto,” Makala added.
