President Samia Suluhu Hassan is set to open a significant ministerial conference on September 11, uniting over 70 ministers from African, Caribbean, and Pacific (OACPS) member states.
The event will focus on advancing the blue economy and strengthening the fishing industry.
At a press briefing in Dar es Salaam on August 29, Minister for Livestock and Fisheries, Abdallah Ulega, revealed that the conference, organized by his ministry in collaboration with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), will also feature an International Conference on Strategies for Improving the Marine Food Production Chain.

This 8th Ministerial Meeting of OACPS aims to tackle critical issues affecting the fishing sector. Participants will work on crafting a cohesive strategy for fisheries and aquaculture policies to enhance their economic impact across member states.
