The Legal and Human Rights Centre (LHRC) has called on eligible voters, in accordance with Article 5 of the 1977 Constitution of the United Republic of Tanzania, to turn out in large numbers at registration centers to register in the permanent voter list. This will enable them to elect their preferred leaders in the 2025 General Election.
Speaking to the press on July 22, 2024, in Dar es Salaam, the Executive Director of LHRC, Advocate Anna Henga, said the institution has been authorized by the Independent National Electoral Commission to provide voter education in the ongoing process of updating the permanent voter register, which began on July 20, 2024.

Advocate Anna Henga also urged Tanzanians with various questions about the registration process to utilize the available free voter service call center at 0800112100 for clarification and answers to their queries.
According to the statement from the Independent National Electoral Commission, the groups involved in the process of updating the permanent voter register include new voters aged 18 or those who will turn 18 by 2025, voters who missed the chance to update their information in 2018/2019, voters who have relocated, and those who lost or damaged their voter cards.
Additionally, the exercise, which started in the Kigoma region and will proceed to Katavi, Tabora, and other regions, is expected to conclude on March 5, 2024.
