Residents of Bigwa Ward in Morogoro Municipality, Engineer Rogatus Mativila, Deputy Secretary-General of the President’s Office for Regional Administration and Local Government (TAMISEMI Infrastructure), has issued a directive to TARURA Morogoro Region.
The directive mandates the timely completion of Lukuyu Bridge by August 2024.
During an official inspection of regional road infrastructure on June 19, 2024, Engineer Mativila underscored the urgent necessity of resolving longstanding impediments faced by the community. Notably, locals have struggled with transporting agricultural produce, including bananas and vegetables, primarily on foot, a practice both strenuous and inefficient.
The Lukuyu Bridge initiative, projected to cost approximately 700 million Tanzanian shillings, stands poised to catalyze transformative change for residents of Bigwa Ward. Once finalized, the bridge will serve as a critical link across the Lukuyu River, significantly enhancing transport efficiency and connectivity within the municipality.
