Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa has called on regional and district commissioners to oversee all development projects within their jurisdictions, ensuring they are completed and begin serving the public.
Majaliwa made this directive on Monday, July 22, 2024, while addressing regional and district security committees and CCM leaders via video conference from his office in Dar es Salaam. He stressed the importance of having up-to-date information on project implementation, urging leaders to review which projects have received funding and verify their completion status. If projects remain incomplete, leaders must investigate the reasons and push for resolution.
Majaliwa’s focus on accountability comes as the government continues to push for the completion of key infrastructure and service delivery projects initiated since 2021. This includes ensuring that all funded projects meet their intended goals and start benefiting the population without further delays.
The Prime Minister highlighted that effective management of these projects is crucial for enhancing public services and fostering economic development. He noted that successful project completion would not only improve living standards but also demonstrate the government’s commitment to development.

In line with these efforts, regional and district leaders are expected to maintain regular oversight and provide accurate progress reports. This initiative aims to ensure transparency and efficiency in the utilization of public funds, ultimately driving sustainable development across all regions.
Furthermore, Majaliwa urged local authorities to engage with community members to address any concerns and gather feedback, ensuring that the projects meet the needs of the people they are designed to serve. This collaborative approach is intended to foster a sense of ownership and accountability among local populations.
The Prime Minister’s directives are part of a broader government strategy to improve infrastructure, healthcare, education, and other critical services nationwide. As these projects progress, their successful completion is anticipated to significantly enhance the quality of life for citizens and contribute to the country’s overall development.
