Gidabuday, a prominent figure in Tanzania’s athletics scene, was struck by a vehicle in the Maji ya Chai area, located in the Arusha region.
Eyewitness accounts suggest that Gidabuday was hit shortly after stepping out of his car, heading towards his home. The accident occurred around 1 a.m., and according to witnesses at the scene, he succumbed to his injuries instantly. Alfredo Shahanga, the East Zone Athletics representative, confirmed the tragic incident, expressing the deep sorrow felt within the athletics community. “It is with great sadness that we confirm Gidabuday’s passing. He was an integral part of Tanzanian athletics, and his loss will be deeply felt,” Shahanga said.
