Football icon Lionel Messi was overcome with emotion as Argentina’s reign as world champions came to an end, following a heartbreaking 1-0 extra-time defeat to Spain in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final.
The match, decided by a 106th-minute goal from Ferran Torres, denied Argentina the opportunity to defend the title they won four years earlier and crowned Spain as the new champions of the world.
