Police have arrested Gesoreka Mabula Sona, 30, on suspicion of murdering his father, Mabula Mwita Sona, 61, after a heated argument allegedly turned fatal.
Mara Regional Police Commander, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police (SACP) Pius Lutumo, confirmed the arrest. According to reports, the altercation began when the elder Sona prevented his son from taking seed beans he intended to sell. The disagreement escalated, with the suspect allegedly attacking his father with a machete, fatally striking him on the neck.
Arrest and Investigation
The suspect fled the scene following the incident but was apprehended hours later in a nearby village, Majimoto, around 5 p.m. “The suspect took extreme action after his father refused his request to sell the seed beans,” explained Commander Lutumo.
The body of the elder Sona was found at his home, where the attack occurred. Police, working alongside local leaders, are conducting a detailed investigation to piece together the sequence of events.
