Tanzania is set to commence immediate export of peas to the Indian market following strengthened bilateral relations between the two nations.
Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, January Makamba, announced this on Saturday via X (formerly Twitter), indicating that the country will continue exporting the produce until March 2025.
Mr. Makamba mentioned that a new agreement will be signed upon the expiry of the current deal. This development follows discussions between Makamba and India’s Minister of Corporate Affairs, Piyush Goyal, in New Delhi. Additionally, Makamba highlighted plans for a Joint Trade Commission (JTC) meeting in April this year to establish strategies for enhancing trade between Tanzania and India.
India-Tanzania relations are marked by longstanding friendship and closeness, vibrant economic ties between our businesses, wide ranging and substantive development partnership and historical people-level linkages built over centuries-old commercial exchanges.
