Tanzania’s Deputy Minister Engages with EAC Secretary General

A pivotal moment for regional diplomacy, Hon. Dennis Londo, who recently took on the role of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation for Tanzania, met with the Secretary General of the Eastern African Community (EAC), Hon. Monica Nduva, on August 13, 2024, in Arusha.

This visit, which was also attended by Ambassador Stephen Mbundi, the Secretary General of the Ministry of East African Cooperation, marked the beginning of a new chapter in Tanzania’s engagement with the EAC.

The primary objective of Hon. Londo’s visit was to establish a working relationship with Hon. Nduva and to demonstrate Tanzania’s unwavering commitment to the EAC’s goals and initiatives. The meeting followed a recent cabinet reshuffle in Tanzania, which saw Hon. Londo appointed to his current position in July 2024. During the visit, Hon. Londo took a moment to sign the guest book at the EAC Secretariat, a ceremonial act that highlighted Tanzania’s dedication to the community’s objectives.

This gesture was followed by a cordial exchange between the Deputy Minister and the Secretary General, setting the stage for a productive partnership. Hon. Londo expressed Tanzania’s enthusiasm for active participation in EAC matters.
