A member of the Central Committee of the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy, Hon. Dr. Doto Biteko, has urged Chato residents to vote for CCM candidates in the ongoing local government elections to further the development projects in the district.
Dr. Biteko made the remarks on November 23, 2024, during his speech at a campaign rally in the Chato District, held at the Bwanga Primary School grounds in Geita Region.
He emphasized that CCM is committed to continued development, urging other political parties to compete with ideas, not insults, and to serve as unifying forces for Tanzanians, not divisive ones. “Listen to other parties, but do not make the mistake of voting for them because they only seek positions. Do not support those who incite violence—they have no clear plans or budgets; what do they expect to do?” Dr. Biteko questioned.

Dr. Biteko highlighted that CCM is well-prepared to win the 2024 elections, with its members actively participating in voter registration for the local government elections. Over 200,000 people from Chato have already registered to vote, and he expressed confidence that many would turn out to vote. “CCM has the capability to bring development to your district. The elected leaders will work because they have a clear manifesto, unlike others who lack plans,” he added.
He also pointed out that under President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s leadership, CCM has continued to focus on development, with significant projects like the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project, the modern electric train (SGR) from Dar es Salaam to Dodoma, and an expanding national airline.
Dr. Biteko reiterated CCM’s respect for the local government elections and urged the people of Chato to vote for CCM candidates to continue the development progress. “We have reasons to ask for your votes because we have worked hard, and it shows,” he concluded.
Chato MP, Hon. Dr. Medard Kalemani, thanked President Samia for her efforts in bringing development to Chato, noting that the district has received TZS 197.28 billion for various development projects, including roads, healthcare facilities, and electricity access. He urged residents to vote for CCM to continue the progress in their area.
