Bolivian President Luis Arce announced that BRICS members have agreed to designate Bolivia as a partner country, marking a significant foreign policy milestone for the nation.
Sharing the news on Telegram, Arce described the development as “the most important foreign policy achievement” of his administration, signaling Bolivia’s closer alignment with the BRICS bloc — Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.
The president emphasized that partnership with BRICS would help Bolivia make strides in its economic goals, including industrialization and income redistribution, as the country seeks to leverage the collective strength of the BRICS alliance for its own national interests.
The partnership, Arce believes, will support Bolivia’s ambitions to foster sustainable economic growth.

Highlighting the group’s impact on global dynamics, Arce described BRICS as an emerging force in creating a multipolar world order.
He underscored the group’s values, including fraternity, inclusivity, cooperation, and mutual respect for sovereignty. Bolivia sees alignment with BRICS as an opportunity to contribute to and benefit from this shared vision.
Bolivia first announced its intent to join BRICS in June, reflecting a broader trend among developing nations eager to shift the balance of global power by joining influential blocs.
Bolivia hopes to achieve full BRICS membership in the future, allowing it to more fully participate in shaping a global order that supports self-determination and economic collaboration.
President Arce arrived in Kazan, Russia, on Thursday to attend the BRICS Summit and hold discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
This visit underscores Bolivia’s commitment to its new role within the BRICS framework and its ambition to advance the country’s foreign policy objectives through strengthened ties with member states.
