The Njombe Regional Commissioner, Hon. Anthony Mtaka, was the guest of honor today at the launch ceremony of new diagnostic and treatment services for the digestive system (Endoscopy Services) at Njombe Regional Referral Hospital.
The event was attended by various government officials, healthcare providers, and residents of Njombe, who came to witness this significant milestone in the development of the healthcare sector in the region.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Mtaka commended the hospital for taking a major step in improving medical services, stating that the endoscopy services will significantly enhance the health of the citizens by providing early diagnosis and proper treatment for digestive system diseases.
“This new endoscopy service will help our people receive early diagnosis for digestive system diseases such as ulcers, cancer, and other issues without having to travel outside the region. This is a significant step towards improving healthcare in our region,” said Hon. Mtaka.

He further explained that investing in healthcare services is part of the sixth phase government’s strategy, under the leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan, to ensure medical services are improved and reach more people in both rural and urban areas.
These new services are expected to reduce the number of patients who need to travel to other regions or abroad for the diagnosis and treatment of digestive system-related diseases. They will also provide an opportunity for healthcare professionals at Njombe Regional Hospital to offer more efficient care.
Hon. Mtaka urged the people of Njombe to visit the hospital for regular health checkups to prevent severe conditions that can be avoided with early treatment.
