Minister of State in the President’s Office for Regional Administration and Local Government, Hon. Mohamed Mchengerwa, has given a two-month deadline for the leadership of Mvomero District in Morogoro Region to complete the construction of stalls for small-scale traders, commonly known as “machinga.” This directive extends nationwide to all district commissioners and municipal directors.
Minister Mchengerwa issued this directive today, August 3, 2024, in the presence of President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan during her visit to Mvomero District, where she addressed residents and launched the five-year campaign “Tutunzane Mvomero.”

Speaking to thousands of Mvomero residents who gathered to hear President Hassan, Minister Mchengerwa emphasized that the foundation of many entrepreneurial groups lies within the jurisdiction of the Regional Administration and Local Government (OR-TAMISEMI). Therefore, officials under this office are directly responsible for addressing the challenges faced by these groups.
“Regional Commissioners, District Commissioners, and Municipal Directors within their administrative boundaries must ensure that these groups are nurtured, developed, listened to, and assisted where necessary,” said Minister Mchengerwa.
President Dr. Samia is currently on a tour of Morogoro Region, where she continues to inspect various development projects, inaugurate new ones, and lay foundation stones. Her tour is expected to conclude on August 7, 2024.
