The advancements in science and technology in Tanzania continue to accelerate, as evidenced by the warm welcome accorded to the Minister of Information, Communications and Information Technology, Hon. Nape Nnauye, in the National Assembly Dodoma.
Nnauye, who today presented the Budget Speech of his Ministry of Information, Communications and Information Technology for the 2024/2025 fiscal year, has met with a Robot who introduced itself by the name “Eunice” and whom he has welcomed and wished all the best in its duties.
The use of a Robot in the Parliamentary chamber is a clear sign that Tanzania is making steady progress in the scientific and technological revolution. This is an important step in strengthening and facilitating various government and parliamentary activities.
Nnauye said that his ministry has developed a sustainable strategy to strengthen the information technology sector in the country, including improving infrastructure, enhancing services and increasing the use of technology in various sectors of the economy and society.
“We continue to see major advancements in science and technology in the country. The use of a Robot like this in the Parliamentary chamber is a clear sign of the pace we have in implementing the government’s aspiration to transform Tanzania into a middle-income economy that utilizes science and technology,” said Minister Nnauye.

Furthermore, Nnauye promised that the Government will continue to invest in the development of science and technology, including enabling the availability of scientific and technological equipment in schools and higher education institutions. This is to strengthen the foundation of science and technology education in the country.
Another example of technological advancements in the country is the use of electronic networks in various government and private sector activities. For instance, the National Assembly has begun using video conferencing networks in various meetings and discussions, which reduces costs and facilitates the management of parliamentary activities.
Similarly, the private sector has continued to improve its services to citizens through the use of digital technology, including financial, health and business services. This demonstrates that Tanzania has begun to reach the stage of becoming an economy that is dependent on science and technology.
Experts in the science and technology sector have agreed that Tanzania should continue to invest in the production of new science and technology professionals, including strengthening the infrastructure of research institutions and higher education. This will help strengthen the country’s capacity to address development challenges.
