The government has assured all teachers in Sengerema District that it will continue to address various challenges they face to ensure they work in conducive environments.
This assurance was given by the Director of Education from the President’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG), Dr. Emmanuel Shindika, during a joint meeting with primary and secondary school teachers of Sengerema District Council held at Sengerema Secondary School.

Dr. Shindika stated that there have been numerous complaints from teachers, including issues related to promotions, changes in organizational structures, salary discrepancies, leave entitlements, transfer allowances, and instances of inappropriate language directed towards teachers.
He commended the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Samia Suluhu Hassan, for agreeing to swiftly address these challenges, including clearing salary arrears for teachers and other civil servants.
“In addressing these challenges, we should all commend Hon. President Samia. Starting from July 1, 2024, a total of 54,000 teachers will be promoted, among them 52,000 will be promoted according to the normal procedure,” said Dr. Shindika.
Dr. Shindika also urged teachers to explore ways of increasing their income and to refrain from taking harmful loans, which have caused many teachers to face difficulties in their workplaces.
He called upon various leaders to use respectful language when addressing teachers and other employees when they visit offices to address their challenges.
The Regional Education Officer for Mwanza, Mr. Martin Nkwabi, noted that Sengerema District Council has been performing well in terms of academic achievements and the construction of various educational infrastructures.
The Acting Executive Director of Sengerema District Council, Dr. Fredrick Mugarula, highlighted the success of the education sector in Sengerema District, including the improvement in academic performance for both primary and secondary schools in national examinations, which has been on the rise every year.
The government’s commitment to addressing teachers’ challenges demonstrates its dedication to enhancing the education sector and ensuring that teachers work in conducive environments conducive to effective teaching and learning.
