The government will on Wednesday officially announce its selection of Dr. Faustine Ndugulile as its candidate for the prestigious role of Regional Director for Africa at the World Health Organization (WHO), as reported by credible sources from The Citizen.
The announcement of Dr. Ndugulile’s nomination is set to be made today, marking a significant milestone in his career. The event will be attended by distinguished officials from the Ministries of Health, Foreign Affairs, and East African Cooperation.
If successful in Tanzania’s bid for this prestigious role, Dr. Ndugulile, who currently serves as the Member of Parliament for Kigamboni, will succeed the accomplished Dr. Matshidiso Moeti, a respected Tswana national who has held the position since 2015. Dr. Moeti’s term will come to an end in August, paving the way for a smooth transition.
Dr. Ndugulile’s impressive academic background further strengthens his candidacy. He holds a Doctorate of Medicine and a Master of Science in Microbiology from the University of Dar es Salaam, as well as a Master of Public Health from the University of Western Cape, highlighting his dedication to public welfare.

In terms of his professional experience, Dr. Ndugulile served as the Deputy Minister for Health, Community Development, Gender, and the Elderly from 2017 to 2020, demonstrating exceptional leadership in the nation’s healthcare system. Additionally, he held the important position of Tanzania’s Minister for Communication and Information Technology for eight months between 2020 and 2021.
