Tanzania and Oman have signed improvements to the Civil Aviation Agreement (BASA) where the Minister of Transport Prof. Makame Mbarawa has represented Tanzania at the signing and Oman has been represented by the president of the country’s Civil Aviation Authority, Engineer Ali Nabri.
The event held in the hall of famous people located at Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam was attended by various leaders and stakeholders including the Representative of the Secretary General Ministry of Transport Biseko Chiganga, Acting Director General Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA) Daniel Malanga, Director General of the Airports Authority (TAA) Musa Mbura together with officials from both countries.
The desire to open markets for Tanzanian airlines to Oman is the implementation of the instructions of Hon. President Samia Suluhu Hassan following his working visit to Oman and the implementation of the Royal Tour campaign.

Speaking during the event Prof. Mbarawa said the previous agreement was signed in 1982 so improvements were important, this agreement will now open new opportunities for transport between these two countries, bring an increase in passengers as well as promote business and the economy.
“ With that contract, Tanzanian planes will go to Oman and Omani planes will come to Tanzania at the airport of Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar and Kilimanjaro,” said Mbarawa.
For his part, the president of the Civil Aviation Authority of Oman, Engineer Ali Nabri, said that the event is a very important part in not only increasing cooperation between Tanzania and Oman, but it is an important step in improving the business environment and promoting the economy of both countries.
Representative of the Secretary General for Transport Mr. Paulo Chiganga has said that the agreement will help increase the transportation of cargo and passengers and also increase the number of flights between the two countries.
