The Security Committee of Tabora Region has successfully rescued a 13-year-old girl, Deodatha Mibulo, a resident of Ngara District in Kagera, who was being trafficked illegally to Dar es Salaam for domestic work.
The incident occurred when the girl began crying for help as the bus she was aboard reached Nzega District. She had been placed on the passenger bus without her consent. Her cries alarmed other passengers, who immediately alerted the authorities. In response, law enforcement issued an order to stop and detain the bus.
Tabora Regional Commissioner, Paulo Chacha, arrived at the scene and strongly condemned the act. He urged parents to be more vigilant in protecting their children, noting the increasing cases of child exploitation in the country. Chacha also confirmed that investigations are ongoing to identify all agents involved in the trafficking attempt.
Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police (SACP) Richard Abwao, the Tabora Regional Police Commander, confirmed receiving reports from concerned citizens. He assured that the girl is now under the protection of the police and in a safe environment.

Preliminary investigations have uncovered a network of traffickers who had been coordinating to transport the girl from Ngara to Dar es Salaam.
The trafficking attempt was disrupted when the girl cried out, exposing the operation. Authorities are continuing their efforts to dismantle the network and hold those responsible accountable.
