Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO) has announced planned power interruptions affecting various regions as part of ongoing railway infrastructure upgrades.
Commencing on Monday, July 8, 2024, the interruption will impact areas including Iringa, Njombe, Ruvuma, Mbeya, Songwe, Singida, Shinyanga, Simiyu, Tabora, Mwanza, Mara, Geita, Arusha, Kilimanjaro, and Manyara.
The temporary shutdown is necessary to facilitate the completion of essential works at 220/33-kilovolt train stations along the Msamvu, Morogoro to Dodoma (SGR) route by the Tanzania Railway Corporation (TRC). This maintenance initiative aims to bolster operational systems for TRC and enhance monitoring capabilities of TANESCO over the Msamvu, Morogoro – Dodoma SGR 220-kilovolt transmission line.

Scheduled to begin at 1:00 AM on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, and lasting until 12:00 PM, the outage will enable TRC to optimize railway operations while TANESCO ensures robust management of the affected transmission infrastructure.
TANESCO, headquartered in Dodoma, issued an apology for any inconvenience caused by these necessary disruptions and assured customers of efforts to minimize impact and ensure swift restoration of power following completion of the upgrades.
