Kisesa residents are set to make a significant mark in the nation, as their efforts align towards fostering development. This message was emphasized by the Member of Parliament for Kisesa, Hon. Luhaga Mpina, during a public rally.
“We, the people of Kisesa, are about to make history in our country. We are gathered here today for the sake of development. Minister Hussein Bashe, you are warmly welcome to my constituency,” said Mpina.
Hon. Hussein Bashe, Minister of Agriculture, continued his tour in Simiyu Region on September 13, 2024. In the morning, he visited the Kasoli irrigation project, which features a dam with a capacity of 2.7 million cubic meters, located in the Shinyanga District Council. This irrigation project is part of the broader Nyida project, valued at TZS 8 billion. Currently, the construction has reached 60% completion, and it is expected to be finalized by April 2025.
Once completed, the project is expected to serve 634 hectares of farmland, benefiting local farmers. Minister Bashe directed the National Irrigation Commission to ensure the construction of access roads leading to the dam, along with the building of a warehouse and the purchase of a rice milling machine to meet farmers’ needs.
At a public meeting held at Mwandoya football ground in Meatu District, Minister Bashe expressed gratitude to the residents and traditional healers of Simiyu Region, who honored him with the name “Jifunika,” symbolizing protection from evil.
“I bring greetings from His Excellency President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, who has provided substantial funding to uplift the cotton sector. She has also continued to supply farmers with inputs, tractors, and agricultural extension services to support the cotton crop,” Bashe stated.
He further announced plans for the construction of three dams, two of which will be located in the Kisesa constituency, and one in a neighboring village, as part of ongoing efforts to bolster the region’s agricultural infrastructure.

The tour and these development initiatives signify a shared commitment between local and national leadership to prioritize progress, leaving politics aside to focus on tangible improvements for the people of Kisesa and beyond.
Minister Bashe’s visit and the projects discussed underscore the government’s dedication to advancing the agricultural sector and providing necessary resources to rural farmers for sustainable growth and economic development.
By the end of April 2025, it is expected that the farmers of Simiyu will begin to reap the benefits of these investments, particularly through the Kasoli irrigation project, which will greatly enhance their productivity and livelihoods.
