President Samia Suluhu Hassan has been called upon to instruct the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology to establish a curriculum dedicated to patriotism in schools.
This request comes in light of concerns over a perceived decline in national pride among Tanzanians.
The appeal was made by the Samia Movement, a group focused on promoting the President’s achievements and addressing governmental issues. Dr. Ole Saitabau, a prominent figure in the movement, expressed the need for a structured curriculum to instill patriotic values from primary school through to university level.

Dr. Saitabau pointed out that current behaviors and attitudes of some Tanzanians reflect a lack of foundational patriotic education. “Immediate action is needed to introduce a patriotism curriculum to foster a generation that contributes positively to national development. Many current behaviors suggest a disconnection from national values,” he stated.
The proposed curriculum aims to address this issue by integrating patriotic education into the national school system. This move is intended to strengthen national identity and responsibility among students, ultimately supporting the country’s development goals.
