The government of the United Kingdom has announced new plans and strategies for cooperation with the government of Tanzania to strengthen collaboration in the sectors of Health, Investment, and Trade, and to support environmental projects and climate change initiatives.
These plans were announced, in Dodoma by the UK Minister for Development and Africa, Mr. Andrew Mitchell, during the opening ceremony of the UK’s Small Embassy Offices here.
Announcing these plans, Mr. Mitchell stated that the UK government has contributed $18.9 million to the Five-Year Health for All Plan being implemented in the country to strengthen healthcare systems, enhance resilience of healthcare services, reduce preventable deaths, and combat infectious diseases.
Additionally, the UK has provided $15 million to collaborate with the Tanzanian government on Maternal Health improvements, including enhancing family planning services with the aim of reaching approximately 900,000 people.

In strengthening cooperation between these two countries, particularly in improving the lives of Tanzanians, the UK government has pledged to continue supporting the Tanzania Social Action Fund (TASAF), which provides grants to 15% of the poorest households in all regions of Tanzania to boost the economy, ensure food security, and improve the environment for these households.
Furthermore, the government has commended the efforts made by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Her Excellency Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, in environmental conservation to address climate change. In supporting these efforts, the UK has pledged to contribute $6.9 million by 2026 to facilitate access to clean energy and promote clean cooking technology for environmental conservation.
Speaking at the event, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Mr. January Makamba, thanked the government of the United Kingdom for the existing cooperation between the two countries and for announcing plans and funding for projects.
