President Samia Suluhu Hassan has underscored the extraordinary leadership qualities of the late Prime Minister Edward Moringe Sokoine, urging current and future leaders to draw inspiration from his legacy.
Speaking at the launch of Sokoine’s biography titled “Edward Moringe Sokoine: Maisha na Uongozi Wake,” held in Dar es Salaam, President Samia praised Sokoine’s dedication, integrity, and loyalty, which earned him the trust of Tanzanians and leadership positions at a young age.
In her address, President Samia acknowledged Sokoine’s significant contributions during a challenging period marked by economic hardships, food shortages, inadequate infrastructure, and issues in the industrial and health sectors. Despite these obstacles, Sokoine remained committed to promoting agricultural development and led efforts against economic sabotage, showcasing his unwavering dedication to national service.
“Sokoine demonstrated unparalleled loyalty to the appointing authority and the public, leading by example in times of crisis,” President Samia stated. “He was entrusted with great responsibilities, including serving as Prime Minister at a young age, which teaches us that diligence and integrity are keys to gaining leadership roles, not chasing them.”
