A grand event marking the 51st anniversary of the glorious October Victory, the Egyptian Defence Attache Office in Dar Es Salaam hosted a ceremony filled with dignitaries and military leaders, celebrating the heroism and historical significance of the 1973 October War.
The event took place with the guest of honor, Honorable Dr. Faraji Mnyepe, Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Defence and National Service of Tanzania, and several high-profile officials from Egypt and Tanzania in attendance.
The event was graced by Brig.Gen.Mohammed Abdelsadek Farg,of the Egyptian Defence Attache Office along with Maj. Gen. Hawa Isaa Kodi, the Chief of Logistics and Engineering for the Tanzania People’s Defence Force (TPDF), as well as formation commanders, general officers, and defense attachés from various countries.
Brig.Gen.Mohammed Abdelsadek Farg, opened the ceremony with a speech that recalled the momentous events of the 1973 October War, a defining moment in Egyptian history. He highlighted how the Egyptian Armed Forces had penned a legacy of bravery, redemption, and victory as they successfully reclaimed the Sinai Peninsula. The Brig, Gen. described the war as an epic tale of unity between Egypt’s noble people and its steadfast military, where blood was shed to uphold righteousness, national dignity, and territorial integrity.
In his address, the Brig. Gen.paid tribute to Egypt’s fallen heroes, particularly saluting the late President Mohammed Anwar El Sadat, who made the bold decision to lead Egypt into war with the ultimate goal of achieving peace. “Preserving peace demands power,” he noted, emphasizing how the Egyptian army, in the decades following the war, underwent a comprehensive transformation by modernizing its forces and forging new defense partnerships with major global powers.
Brig. Gen. Farg, further emphasized the Egyptian military’s role in not only defending the nation from external threats but also in fighting terrorism on behalf of humanity. He noted that the Egyptian Armed Forces continue to face contemporary challenges with valor, protecting civilians while safeguarding Egypt’s assets and territorial integrity.
A poignant moment during the celebration was when Brig.Gen.Mohammed Abdelsadek Farg, spoke of Egypt’s ongoing efforts to resolve the Palestinian Cause through the two-state solution, opposing the forced displacement of Palestinians. He reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to justice and righteousness, stating that Egypt’s military strength has been wielded to support peace, not aggression, and to stand by the country’s brothers and allies.
Reflecting on Egypt’s role as a regional stabilizer, Brig. Gen. Farg, lauded the Egyptian army’s relentless efforts to confront organized crime and curb illegal immigration along its borders. He acknowledged the sacrifices made by Egyptians in the fight against terrorism, describing how the military continues to protect Egypt’s borders from human trafficking and the perilous journeys of migrants seeking opportunities abroad.
In a call for global unity, Brig.Gen.Mohammed Abdelsadek Farg, urged all attendees to reflect on the current global circumstances and to work together for the stability and prosperity of their nations. He prayed for peace and security to prevail, highlighting the importance of cooperation in overcoming global challenges.
Following his speech, Guest of Honor Honorable Dr. Faraji Mnyepe took the stage, expressing deep appreciation for the longstanding friendship between Tanzania and Egypt. He acknowledged the historical ties that have brought both nations together over the years, and emphasized the importance of strengthening this relationship for mutual benefit. “I truly appreciate the good friendship between Tanzania and Egypt, and I am confident that our cooperation will continue to foster peace and development between our countries,” he assured.
Dr. Mnyepe ,also encouraged Egypt to explore investment opportunities in Tanzania, noting the significant potential in sectors such as infrastructure, agriculture, and energy. “Tanzania welcomes Egypt to invest in our country. Our shared commitment to peace and development makes us natural partners, and together we can achieve great things for the prosperity of our peoples,” he added.
The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt tribute to the Egyptian Armed Forces and a special acknowledgment of Egyptian President Abd El Fattah El-Sisi, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. The ambassador expressed deep gratitude to all those present, emphasizing the long-standing bonds of friendship between Egypt and Tanzania.

As the evening came to a close, the host, reiterated Egypt’s unwavering dedication to defending its land, supporting development, and preserving the legitimate rights of its people both at home and abroad.
